Working with Stock4Cast starts with selection of required forecast parameters in "Calculation parameters setup" table.
Rules for filling in the table |
Ticker field
Ticker field is used to enter stock ticker, for which price forecast calculation is required. In this example Yahoo! ticker is selected.
 button allows finding a stock symbol by its name.
Price Type field
This field allows selecting the index price type (open, low, high, close), for which forecast is required. In this example, High type is selected.
First date for prediction field
This field is used to enter starting date for YHOO daily high forecasts. In this example, November 25, 2002 is selected.
Hitting button results in dropping down calendar used for selecting the date required.
If a past date is entered into First date for Prediction field, forecast results for all past days will be displayed together with real indicator values, allowing to assess historical stock forecasting accuracy.
Points ahead field
This field is used to select forecast duration for high Yahoo! daily prices (1 to 5 days). In this example, 3 days are selected.
SMA period field
This field is used to select period for simple moving average; values available are 1, 5, 10, and 22. Value 1 means the price forecast itself. Values higher than 1 mean index SMA period.
Forecast results will appear several seconds after filling in all the fields and pressing "Calculate" button.
